Small, Intimate Wedding Floral Buttercream Cake in Greensburg, PA

From the first time that I spoke with Julie, I just knew that I had to make her wedding cake.  I could hear the kindness and happiness in her voice over the phone and there was a warmth about her that drew me to say “Yes,” despite already having other orders that same weekend.  After I met with her and her fiance, Matthew, I knew that I had made the right choice.

They were planning a very small and intimate wedding.  So small that the only other people who were going to be there were their two sons.  With four people, they obviously didn’t need a multi-tiered traditional wedding cake, but they still wanted something special and beautiful to cut into and share as their first dessert as husband and wife.  Julie even used the word “decadent.” I think that we achieved all of that and more!

After their tasting, Julie and Matthew chose a rich chocolate cake with a silky smooth peanut butter buttercream filling.  The outside is covered in ivory vanilla buttercream and topped with a gorgeous wreath of buttercream flowers.

Buttercream flowers are my first love when it comes to cake decorating, but I don’t get to do them as often as I would like.  I adore the floral buttercream wreath cakes that are all over Pinterest, so I was so excited to create my own version.  I chose a combination of pink, peach, purple, and white buttercreams for the various flowers and a light green as an accent for the leaves.

Look at that combed buttercream!

Congratulations, Julie and Matthew! I just know that you had a beautiful day and made some special memories.  Thank you for letting me be a part of your celebration!
